Wine’s story in Conegliano starts with the Agricultural Academies founded by Venice Republic in 1769.
In 1868, thanks to Antonio Carpené, professor of chemistry, and the abbot Felice Benedetti, president of the local growers’ association, the Società Enologica Trevigiana was founded in Conegliano to start a relevant viticultural revolution.
The School of Viticulture and Enology of Conegliano was born later on, in 1876, again thanks to the effort of Antonio Carmen together with the engineer Giovanni Battista Cerletti.
The Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Padova and the Province of Treviso have developed through the last decades the scientific and research activities within the Campus of Viticulture and Enology of Conegliano.
